Support for revising for, and planning ahead to learn GCSE content
Lift Kingswood provides all students in Years 10 and 11 with revision guides for their GCSE subjects. The total cost of materials per student is easily over £200 but the school provides this free of charge, to assist all students with homework and revision.
Students are encouraged to bring their revision guides to lessons to support with independent learning and academic skills. We also want to ensure students have guidance on how to use these revision materials outside of school as well. In order to aid this, we have provided revision guidance checklists for all subjects, of which you can find these below.
These checklists contain the topics taught in lessons, in order, with the corresponding pages in revision guides for students to reflect on. The science behind revision and retention suggests that checking these notes periodically, after lessons, the next day and with a week's gap will ensure that the subject content will go into the long-term memory. As most qualifications are now 100% exam based, the retention of the key knowledge is vital for success. Therefore, the revision guidance provided also gives students the chance to check off when they have revised these key topics, as a way of organising their learning.
