Rugby

Boys’ Rugby is a proud part of the Kingswood Sports Academy, challenging students to show commitment, discipline, respect and determination while working together as a team. The programme develops core rugby skills, confidence and resilience through training, fixtures and wider competition.

Boys’ Rugby provides students with the opportunity to develop both their practical ability and a range of important personal qualities. Through regular training and competitive fixtures across Years 7–10, students develop key rugby skills including handling, tackling, support play and decision-making, while also learning the importance of teamwork, discipline, commitment and resilience. Sessions are designed to challenge students, encourage them to support one another and build confidence, while ensuring that enjoyment and a love of the game remain central to the programme. Rugby also gives students the opportunity to represent the Academy with pride and to experience the rewards that come from working hard as part of a team.  Students are encouraged to show pride, respect and commitment when representing Kingswood.

Team successes:

• Year 7: Hull Schools Trophy winners and Yorkshire Plate quarter-finalists.

• Year 8: third in the league and narrowly missed out on the Yorkshire Cup.

• Year 9: Hull Active Schools Trophy winners and Yorkshire Shield winners.

• Year 10: Hull Schools Trophy semi-finalists and Yorkshire Shield quarter-finalists.
